The Association for Vascular Access (AVA) announced its launch of ACE by AVA at the AVASM 2021 Virtual conference. ACE, which is short for Assessing Competency by Experts, is an innovative education, skills development and competency assessment method that ensures healthcare providers are competent in vascular access procedures and understand best practices. The ACE method is appropriate for novice to experienced healthcare providers in the nursing, medical, respiratory, and allied health professions. The first competency assessment offered is ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous vascular insertions (USGPIV). Competencies for other procedures will be introduced in 2022.
